There has recently been much research into the health benefits conferred by the essential oils found in basil. You do know the basil plant, don’t you? The cooking herb with aromatic leaves? Used for fragrance and as a seasoning for food? Well, there have been scientific studies which, in vitro, have established there is power in this plant – compounds that have potent antioxidant, anticancer, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. These qualities, individually and collectively, are part of what make the basil a healthy idea for the treatment of acne in almost all of its forms.
Specifically, the basil has been shown in many tests and actual medical applications to decrease the occurrence of platelet aggregation and experimental thrombus in mice; also, it is conventionally used for supplementary treatment of stress, asthma and diabetes in India; and of course, in Siddha medicine, the basil plant has found application in treating pimples on the face. Some people said they have treated their acne by staying off oily food and using smoothies blender to prepare the right type of healthy smoothies.
Be advised, acne treatment application found for the basil plant is not an oral one but a topical. It is critical that you know for a fact that intake of the seeds of the basil in large quantities is harmful for the brain, and you don’t need that. In addition to the basil, you may want to consider other well known options for treating the condition, many of which have been in practice for centuries.
Sulfur baths, antibiotics, hormonal interventions and manipulations, benzoyl peroxide, topical and oral retinoids, anti-inflammatory medications, and all the rest and so forth, are only a few of the alternatives that you have at your disposal. And then, there also are procedures that have been known to be quite effective in this regard as well, such as laser treatment, dermabrassion, and even surgical lancing. Also, there are unconventional acne treatment options that involve aloe vera and tea tree oil that you should think about too.
But, more important than any of these acne treatment options is the type of acne that you are dealing with, and what may have brought it about – it’s cause. Determine this, and dealing with the inflammatory condition of the skin you are suffering from may no longer be so complicated anymore – that’s how to treat pimples.
